Last day of winter went out with a bang at the Chambersburg Fire Department. Over the twenty-four hour period, "A" shift handled twenty EMS calls, one automatic alarm, multiple medical assist responses, one box alarm for smoke in the residence, and a working car fire at 211 South Main Street just after 2 a.m.  Read More
MVA on Orchard Drive

An early afternoon accident on Orchard Drive sent Engine 1-4, Ambulance 1-9, and ALS to Orchard Drive near the old Sheetz entrance. Engine 1-4 arrived to find a two vehicle accident and patients with minor injuries. EMS transported one patient to the hospital, and the engine controlled hazards.
CFD Responds to Mobile Home Fire

A working mobile home fire brought Company 1 units to 6327 Lincoln Way West at 8:50 a.m. Deputy Chief 18 arrived on scene to find a fully involved mobile home and requested an interior attack. Truck 1 arrived and secured utilities, opened up the residence, and assisted with overhaul. Engine 1-2 arrived, and crews assisted with fire suppression. Inside Investigation at 438 East Queen St

A snowy afternoon sent CFD personnel out the door to 438 East Queen Street for an inside investigation. While en route, dispatch advised that there was a strong odor of sulfur in the residence. After an extensive check of the residents and home, there was no indication of an odor or hazardous condition. Units remained on scene for approximately thirty minutes.

Chimney Fire at 429 Stouffer Avenue

CFD was alerted to 429 Stouffer Avenue for a possible chimney fire at 9:57 p.m. Crews arrived on scene to find normal conditions from the exterior. After some investigation, it was determined that there was fire in the chimney and no immediate hazard present. Units were on scene for approximately thirty minutes.  Read More

Wilson Students Donate Stuffed Animals

The Wilson School of Gymnastics and Dance delivered stuffed animals to the Chambersburg Fire Department. This was a team building project that both the gymnastics and dance departments organized in an effort to provide children solace in an event of an emergency incident. Vehicle Tips on Guide Wire

A unique situation called out CFD Company One units to the intersection of Prince Street and Montgomery Court for an auto accident with a vehicle on its side. Arriving units found a single vehicle that drove up a utility pole guide wire at low speeds causing the vehicle to tip on its side. EMS attended to two patients, and the scene was turned over to the police.
Smoke Investigation at 34 School House Road

Shortly after CFD shift change, Truck 1 was requested per Chief 18 to assist with an investigation of smoke at 34 School House Road, Company 18's quarters. Truck 1 responded with five personnel and upon arrival was assigned with checking the roof and ventilation. Chimney Response at 850 South Fifth Street

Company 1 was dispatched at 2:51 p.m. for a possible chimney fire at 850 South Fifth Street. Company 1 and Chief 1 (Command) arrived on scene to find a single family residence with normal conditions from the outside. Upon investigation, it was determined that there was no fire and the chimney was in normal operation. Crews cleared in 15 minutes.  Read More
